Entries in dickens on the strand (6)

    Not Dead Yet!

I promise I'm still around and still making dresses!  This site and its outdated interface will get revamped, hopefully this winter.  I am currently up to my eyeballs in dressmaking for Dickens on the Strand 2017.  Please look at and LIKE my facebook page, if you can.  It gets updated much more often because it's soooooo easy.

I'll leave you with a gorgeous photo my friend Johan, from Johan Clicks took for me in a really fun photoshoot from the summer of 2016.  We'll be doing another in the near future...oh yeah.

I'm also accepting commisions for 2018.

This Dickens was another great success!

So here we are again, after another mad dash sewing for Dickens.  Missie as my minion and I were able to pound out 10 dresses and assorted pieces.  This awesome photo is all of the girls that were present Saturday morning in dresses I made--14 of them.  It was a real rush to see them all lined up that way.  Unfortunately it was about 40º all weekend, so many of the dresses are covered up with wraps, but I'm sure you get the idea. :-)

Here are two of the lovely Ginger's 1890's dresses.  One she kindly loaned out and her new one I made her this year.  If you are a Victorian dress buff, you will notice that it is directly inspired by a Worth gown.

There are a great many more pictures on my Facebook Page Waisted Efforts, so please go look at that, and like it, please.  It often gets more updates, just because it is faster.

Here's a picture of the back of my new ball gown.  Hopefully I will have more pictures soon!  :-)

And as a finaly here is a picture of the entire Y.E.S. Clump.  We at the Yeasteryear Enthusiast Society take our group photos seriously!  -grin-

The Great Dickens Sewing Marathon of over...-ish

So here is a teaser image from this year's sewing marathon.  I will update this soon, as I am still waiting on pictures to come in.  This was a really rough year; too many dresses, and not enough help.  What got finished is beautiful and I am very proud of it all, but I was unable to complete 2 pieces, and that never makes a dresmaker happy.  They don't realize it yet though, but they will be even happier when I do get finished! :-)

I have put up some pictures in a new set on Flickr.  Check them out, and feel free to comment.  I will add more as soon as I have them.

To close, here is another dress from this year.

The Great Dressmaking Bonanza of 2011

Is Over!  I completely overloaded myself this year.  Here are a few of the dresses I made.  I am waiting on pictures from the rest.  I didn't have the brain cells to remember my camera, let alone use it. -grin-

I have already begun the set-up for next year's Dickens.  I have alotted 12 total dresses, 6 each for the Wisconsin and Texas clans.  I even created a spreadsheet so everyone can see what s available.  I already filled up all the Texas slots, and only have 2 slots left for WI.  So if you want dresses for next year, let me know soon!  I am also filling up the winter with catch-up.  I want to be done with all the unfinished projects!  I'll let know if that is a pipedream or not. :-)

    Married Life is Good!

My dear friend Rhonni took this great photo during the ceremony from the breeze way above where the reception would be.

As promised, here is the final update to My Victorian Wedding Journals.  If you want the Journal in bite-size pieces...ish, the first is Getting Started, second is My dress, finished and married!, and third is My Attendants (and Sisters) :-)  Phew!  That took all day.  Let me know what you think!

I know many of you came to the wedding, and I want to thank you.  Many of you stayed the weekend, and some of you got to experience the fun we have at Dickens on the Strand for the very first time; thank you for that, too.

It was quite the journey.  Thanks for coming along.  This project is OFF the table!
